Why do not Castle Howard, with the main family line?
Castle Howard was the Earl of Carisle who lived there built for a long time. However, the lock is currently owned by the Hon. Simon Howard, great-grandson of the 9th Earl of Carisle. Usually these big houses are the oldest sons inherited and thus remain the title remain with the family seat of Castle Howard so why not stay and go junior line with the Earl of Carisle?
It sometimes happens that the earl has no son succeed him – he could never married, have only daughters or were childless. In this case, the title would be the closest male relatives to . go "The 7th Earl served for 17 years as an MP until defeated in 1841, after which he toured North America for a year. He was never married and was succeeded by his brother, William, who had been managed more than 40 years Rector of Londesborough, the East Riding of Yorkshire. Between 1864 and 1880, the 7th Earl's younger brother, Admiral Edward Howard, Lord Lanerton, lived at Castle Howard, due to the 8 Earl's mental infirmity. George, 9 Earl of Carlisle, was her nephew and the last Earl of Carlisle at Castle Howard to live. [He was married with Rosalind.] He died in 1911, and his eldest son Charles, 10 Earl, only survived him by 9 months. After the death of Rosalind in 1921 the family estates were based on liberal principles divided. Castle Howard was Mary Murray, her eldest daughter, who were not willing to take it on, she handed her younger brother, the Hon Geoffrey Howard, a Liberal MP and Parliamentary Secretary Herbert Asquith, the Prime Minister was. Geoffrey died in 1935, and Castle Howard was then administered in trust by a family none of his children who by age. Of these was Mark, the eldest son, killed in the landings in Normandy, and Christopher was killed flying with Dambusters, Christian, The eldest daughter, was lady of the British Empire created in 1986 and died in 1999, and her sister Katherine died in 1979. Castle Howard is today owned by and managed by a private company, of which the Hon Nicholas and Simon Howard are the directors, the company demanding tasks of running the property and preserves both the house as a residence (now living in the Hon Simon Howard and his second wife Rebecca), and as the great spectacle it has always been. Meanwhile, waiting for the next generation in the wings, ready to challenge the 18 Dream than a reality of the 21st century Century.
